Little Baby Boo Boo

Taking a break from sharing our wedding photos today, because it's Little Baby Boo Boo's birthday.

She is going to be so mad at me for posting this picture.

Something a little more recent.

Twenty years ago today, Boo Boo [legal name: Clarissa] was born. I was five-ish. I was super excited to have another sister [Megan had already taken over my only-child status, so at this point I was OK adding another girl to the bunch.]

This is Megan and Boo Boo.
In fact, I was so excited to have a new sister, I promptly gave her the "worst case of chicken pox" our pediatrician had ever seen when she was three months old. Welcome to the world, little baby.

Being the baby of the family, Boo Boo did a pretty good job of keeping up with the two of us. Like when we bought a bucket of beers in Cabo when she was 13. [sorry, mom.]

But then there's the times that we are keeping up with her. Boo Boo is a straight up genius.

There is going to be a time, not far from now, that she discovers a new spider in the Amazon that leads to the cure for cancer. Seriously.

Or maybe [I hope] she'll find a way to cure nut allergies. She'll do something big. I know it.

I was sitting around this week [I had a lot of time to think] thinking about the three of us and where we are.

Megan is in Minneapolis volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. Of course she is.

I'm living in Portland working with my Mom doing environmental consulting. Of course I am.

Boo Boo is in Ecuador/Galapagos for the semester studying bugs. Of course she is.

We're a little older than the girls that played Flinstones McDonalds in our front yard. We're a little older than the girls that fought to no avail throughout our high school years. But we're still the same girls that can laugh for hours together.

I'm so excited for both of them to come back at Christmas so we can get back to bugging each other.

Happy Birthday, little baby. I love you. I miss you tons.

The Portraits

In celebration of Ben and I's first wedding anniversary, I'm finally sharing our wedding photos.

Today, the portraits:

He's a looker!

I call this series: When Ben joined a well-dressed street gang.

One of my favorites from the entire day.

It's that time of year...

October 15 marks Ben and I's first [wedding] anniversary. It's crazy it was already one year ago, but it's also crazy that it was ONLY one year ago. This year has brought a huge amount of changes--all good--to our lives.

Since I haven't really shared a bulk of our wedding photos on Facebook or any other medium, I thought I'd take the next couple days sharing our day. Each day I'll share a different part of October 15.

Today, the preparation:

[All photos are courtesy of Blake James Photography and Katy Weaver Photography. Don't blame them for the editing, I did that]

We had a great makeup artist, Kim King.

Those pesky hanger-ribbon things.
We were trying to cut them with nail scissors.

We were trying to spell things with our robes.
Problem when most people's name started with M or E.

My mom MADE those. So cute!
We filled them with little 'prep' trinkets like tissues, lotion, hairspray, etc.

There's those ribbon things again. Get it, Emilie!

Weddings are all about 'Hurry up, and wait.'
There was a lot of 'wait.'

Little Boo Boo looked so pretty.

Little Emilie and Little Megan.

Our flowers were AMAZING.
Bella Bloom Florals.

My mom's corsage was amazing.
Little bitty ranunculus with a little bit of ribbon.

Slab it on, Kim. I just cried it off 2 hours later.

See how pretty they are!
This is my mom and little Boo Boo

I remember sitting there thinking, Can I put my dress on yet?

Pretty sisters

There are about 40 pictures of Emily and I doing this exact pose all day long.

Finally, my dress!

There are never as many of guy 'getting ready shots'...but here's what I have....

Jimmy Johns, eh? Hangover food...

Look what I can do!

Help with the pocket square.

Reading my card [I got him that watch he is wearing.]

The reason why the hangover food was needed.
Thanks, Trevor. I'm still going to kill you.
Apparently, it was a 'tequila tasting' not a raging tequila shot contest.
Tomorrow, portraits!
